About Us
Hello everybody,
We are Manon and Eveline, fifteen and sixteen years old.
Together we follow bilingual education in Alphen a/d Rijn, the Netherlands.
In our programme this year is a subject called Social and Global Studies, abbreviated to SGS.
For this subject we have to make a blog and chose to do this together about the Typhoon Haiyan that started on 7th of November 2013 and hit the Philippines on the morning of the 8th.
Our goal of this project is to find out how big the influence of the Social Media has been on this natural disaster.
On the eighth of november Haiyan, Philippines was hit by a terrible typhoon.
It has been marked the biggest tropical storm of 2013, and one of the largest ever.
Over 5000 people died and many more became homeless.
We hope that by this blog, we can make sure that the victims are not forgotten.
Hopefully, all the homeless can have the chance to rebuild their homes.
All together we can help them!
History of project
We have been assigned with the task:
"Analyze an issue, where social media have made, or are making, a social or political difference"
Thus, we decided to choose the Philippines, as the supertyphoon just hit the islands.
